Bookings are now open for the Paddleboarding in Saundersfoot. Have a look at the calendar below and contact us if you can’t find what you’re looking for. More information about the Paddleboard sessions can be found here.
The bay in Saundersfoot is protected from most wind directions, which makes it a great location for Paddleboarding. However, we constantly adapt our SUP sessions according to the weather to ensure the best experience. Some sessions will start from behind the Harbour as it provides a more sheltered area from the wind. Working with the sea means that our lessons have ‘an element of the wild’ and every session is different: you might be lucky enough to spot a seal, or try to catch a small wave on the SUP. The sea is not very deep and the water warms up quicker than other beaches.
There is a very high chance that you will fall into water. This year we’ve had a 100% rate of people standing up on the boards but a lot have also fallen into water. We only teach with inflatable boards, which makes it safer for falls on the board. We also teach you safe ways of falling from the board. The water in Saundersfoot is usually a couple degrees warmer than other beaches because the water is very shallow.
Every person is different and so is their ability to stand on a board. Standing on the board depends on a persons balance and the strength to get up from a kneeling position. Like any other sport there are adaptations for beginners or advanced people so it is absolutely fine to stay on your knees on your first go and focus more on learning different methods of navigating the board. And last but not least the more often you have a go at Paddleboarding the better you become at balancing on the board.
We still run SUP sessions when it is raining. As paddleboarding is a water sport you will get wet anyway. We only cancel lessons if it is too windy to run the session even from behind the Harbour of Saundersfoot. We usually assess on the morning of the lesson as the wind conditions can change very quickly.
We have different boards to suit different needs, with boards that can carry up to 150kg, so there is no real weight limit for the boards. We provide shorty wetsuits up to XXL.
No, payment is on the day either in cash or by card. We have a card machine but it is dependent on the Wifi connection we get on the beach. If you are interested to join a SUP session, just contact us and we will pencil you in. We will assess in the morning of the SUP session if we can run the session or if we need to postpone it because of the weather conditions. We only ask for a deposit if you are booking for a big group to secure the slot.
We are happy with the boards we are using for the SUP sessions and we would like to hold on to them for this season. If you are interested in buying your own board we are happy to give you advice and let you try different boards from our fleet. We can order boards from JOBE and Gong.
